Cheap Folding Bikes

If you are shopping online and are looking for a folding bike cheap, then this guide will show the top 5 cheap folding bikes for sale.

To get the biggest discount folding bikes you should spend some time online and see what the deals are.  Online retailers tend to have low overheads compared to the expensive premises and costly overheads of a local bike store.

Some of the best online names are Amazon and Jemsons.  If you are really looking for a deal on discount folding bikes, that’s where I would be heading.

When looking for cheap folding bikes for sale, its often worth looking second hand for example Gumtree.  I have written a guide to buying components second hand here, and the same principles apply.

Of course you do get what you pay for, and when you buy a cheap bike you may not get all the features that you might need.   Before we delve into the cheapest bikes lets look at a basic list of requirements to get the most from the bike:

Weight: When the bike is folded you will need to be able to carry it.  If the weight is up around 30lbs this will be a challenge!

Wheel Size: There are a number of wheel sizes from micro, 16 inch folding bikes through 20, 24 and 26 inch folding bicycle.  The most common size is the 20”, and I would recommend sticking with a folding bike 20”.  The reason is that as the most common size they are made in large, and efficient quantities. This will help keep the price cheap.

Fold Size: As the price comes down the size of the folded bike goes up!  This makes it less practical for storage or transport and you would be as well looking at a regular bike.

Minimum Recommended Folding Bike Budget: $500

With all this considered, I would recommend a budget of around $500 for a good all round bike, and these are my picks at this price.

Overall, if you are looking for a cheap folding bike I would recommend buying a new version.  If you buy used then there will be issues with part failure or hidden ware and tear that might not be immediately visible.
